Enjoy the ride, but what is the destination? Vanderbilt Football is a WAGON

Growing up we all loved to go on rides on our wagons, they were sturdy, could go fast, go slow, and roll over pretty much anything. Now as adults and as football fans or sports fans in general, we still love hopping on wagons to go for a ride, and the Commodores are the fastest, shiniest, best wagon in the neighborhood right now. So why not hop on? Vandy is ranked for the first time during the regular season since 2008, still in contention for the SEC Championship game in Week 9….and defeated at the time #1 Alabama. Yes I am still talking about football, not baseball, not the mathlete competition, not bowling….FOOTBALL. Commodores quietly did some great work in the transfer portal this offseason and snagged one of the top QB prospects in Diego Pavia to come lead them this season. They opened the year with a win total projected of only 2.5 for the entire season, and they are now 5-2, losing by a combined total of only 7 points, ranked #25 in the country and have wins over Virginia Tech, #1 Alabama, and Kentucky. Commodores and their new Wagon Master Pavia refuse to embrace the traditional SEC offense and have teams in a blender with their slow mesh scheme attacks. Pavia has proved to be one of those QBs with the “it” factor which cannot be taught/coached, the guy is just a gamer and a winner. Against #1 Alabama Pavia led the commodores to their biggest win in Vandy history with over 300 combined total yards and 2 TDs with no turnovers…WINNER.

Anyone who has followed football and the SEC knows Vandy is supposed to be the doormat of the league every year, and to just be the team to take the big SEC tv check every season and be the easy win for everyone else in the conference. Commodores came together this offseason, changed out the wheels and installed a new wagon master, Diego Pavia, and decided to not just take their money and be happy. They wanted to take their money and WIN. Biggest question is can they continue this? History says no, I say yes. With the success they have had already this season I expect more players to take notice that Vandy is a team that can win, in arguably the strongest conference in Football, located in the great attractive city of Nashville. I expect Clark Lea to take advantage of this opportunity and pull in more sneaky good transfers and recruits to keep the commodores from being the doormat of the SEC going forward.

With a huge matchup this weekend vs #5 Texas as 18 point dawgs at home, Vandy has an opportunity to show the country they are here to stay and they don’t even have to pull off the outright upset to do this. If Vandy keeps this game close into the 4th quarter and loses by one score the entire country will have to take Vandy seriously going forward, and I believe Vandy can do it. I believe Texas comes out flat after a high stakes high emotional game last weekend and Vandy takes advantage. Vandy and the Wagon Master Pavia will continue to roll this weekend and shock the world yet again this season upsetting #5 Texas, you heard it hear first from Tailgate Talk. Vandy WAGON rolls on!
