As predicted, even in a weekend where matchups looked like a snooze fest, we had fireworks and many close calls which made for some crazy finishes this weekend. All I will say is I would not want to be the playoff selection committee this season for the first ever 12 team playoff as parody continues to takeover college football this season.

Florida 27 - #22 LSU 16

Brian Kelly didn’t take out a post game interview table after this game which I guess is a win, but the game is a huge loss for LSU as they are officially out of the playoffs. Losing to a UF team that just had to announce to the questioning fanbase they are keeping their current head coach was not great for Brian Kelly and the Tigers. On the flip side, Billy Napier has saved his job and has completely rejuvenated this fanbase to have hope and belief in the future of this program. I think we can all agree Billy put everything on the table for this game and completely overlooked Texas last week, makes a lot of sense giving that game up to focus on upsetting a ranked playoff contender at home. Having up and coming star QB DJ Lagway sit out last week was not solely because of “injury” as he looked very healthy in the game against the Tigers as he made a few amazing plays only special players are able to make. The future for LSU is a big question of if Brian Kelly can truly take this team back to being National Title Contenders. The future for the Gators looks to be bright, and Napier seems to truly have a vision for what he wants this team to look like.

#12 Georgia 31 - #7 Tennessee 17

Georgia took control in this game in the second half as their offense seemed to be unstoppable. Turns out if Tennessee’s defensive line is blocked and the QB has time, their secondary cannot cover receivers and UGA exposed that this weekend. Carson Beck actually looked to be an above average QB in this game, although he did have some questionable decisions in the first half so I still will not move him up in my QB rankings just yet. Tennessee had every chance to keep up with the dawgs but the young up and coming star Nico missed a few key throws as well as had many throws that were just flat out dropped by the receivers. If you are a TN fan just know that the CFP committee loves the SEC and there is still a small chance, but if not in this year, as Nico continues to grow and develop that offense will become almost unfair next season if Heupel brings in receivers that know how to catch. On the Dawgs side, this win was a great bounce back after getting embarrassed by Ole Miss and potentially keeps them in as an at large bid for the playoffs.

Stanford 38 - #19 Louisville 35

The cardinals took the trip across the country to the west coast and decided to lay a giant egg against Stanford. Give all the credit to Stanford as they put together their best game of the season hitting on all cylinders against Louisville. This is typical Jeff Brohm in my opinion, beats teams he has no business beating and then drops some he has no business dropping. Unfortunately for Louisville, this one he has dropped just cost them a shot at the ACC Championship game and with that, their only route to get into the CFP.

Arizona State 24 – #16 Kansas State 14

Arizona State has turned into a huge surprise in the Big 12 as they are now in the driver seat to play for the conference championship…..and potentially make the playoffs with a win. If anyone said at the beginning of the season that come mid November, ASU controls their destiny to make the playoffs, they would be thrown into the loony bin. But here we are, and Sam Leavitt and Cam Skattebo has this team rolling at the right time of the year as they continue to win. This game was played at Kansas State in a very hostile environment, and the Sundevils took control of this game from the moment the whistle blew. Bill Snyder stadium was so quiet you could hear a pin drop after the ASU took a commanding 21-0 lead in the second quarter. Kansas state didn’t seem to wake up until end of the third quarter and at that point it was to late. ASU has a huge game against BYU this weekend, which will be the deciding game of who plays what looks to be Colorado in the Big 12 Championship.

#1 Oregon 16 – Wisconsin 13

I will eat my words from last week, I was wrong about this one. One part of this Wisconsin Badger team came to play and held the best offense in the country to 16 points, almost pulling off the upset of the year. The problem is, the Badgers forgot how to move the ball on offense and couldn’t do anything against the Ducks defense. Dan Lanning and this Dillon Gabriel led offense came storming back in the fourth quarter, using the famous jump around song in Camp Randall Stadium to their advantage to pump themselves up jumping around going nuts on the sideline. They took control and scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to stay alive and beat Wisconsin 16-13.

Kansas 17 - #6 BYU 13

The 3-6, now 4-6 Jayhawks, went into Provo at night and beat an undefeated top 10 ranked BYU. This is no easy thing to do in that environment, which certifies that Kansas is the best 4 win team in the country, no debate on this issue will even be acknowledged. Now with this being said, this is the Big 12 conference in a nutshell, any team in the conference can beat anyone else on any given Saturday. The talent of the teams in the Big 12 are essentially the same from top to bottom. BYU has had a special run thus far, escaping some close ones throughout the year, and it finally did not fall their way this weekend. BYU has another huge conference matchup this coming weekend against a hot Arizona State Team which will decide who goes to the Conference Championship game.
