I think it is safe to say that most people did not stay up till the middle of the night to watch BYU and Oklahoma State slug it out in Provo. This game featured three quarterbacks, Ollie Gordan with an electric first half, and big plays with BYU scoring in the closing seconds to take the lead for good. Leaving this game each team has several questions they need to answer as they seek to finish the season strong.
BYU
A wins a win and walking away Friday night at 7-0 has to feel good but that game was not their best performance. If BYU wants to keep this run going and really make some noise as a potential college football playoff contender the quarterback play has to be better. Coming into this game the hype could not be higher for Retzlaff but after going 13/26 with two interceptions that has to get cleaned up if they want to walk out of Orlando a winner next week. It is important to highlight that when it was needed most the BYJew came through on the final drive and delivered what would be the game winning pass.
Oklahoma State
The freefall continues for Oklahoma State as they lost their starting QB during the first half of the game and Ollie Gordan cannot stay healthy. After torching the BYU defense for three first half touchdowns Gordan was on and off the field for the second half as he dealt with an apparent injury. If that injury wasn’t enough Oklahoma had to give the reigns to senior citizen quarterback Bowman after Rangel was hurt and the seventh-year senior could not find his rhythm. Gundy has questions to answer as the Pokes continue to spiral this season.
